At the Good Little Company, we make tasty food that’s good for you (and good for others). It’s easy to make fruit juice that’s good for you because fruit’s good for you. You just need to squish it. We love a good challenge, so we started with sausages.

You see, the fact is that (most) sausages are scary because they’re full of stuff and nonsense, but we believed it could be different. Despite their dark and dodgy past, sausages are the handiest and most versatile morsels of meat. Kids love them, parents love them and we love them too. They cook quickly and taste great with a bit of mash and some lovely gravy. Mmmm.

So we decided to create a super sausage that would defy its brothers’ and sisters’ reputation and take a stand against evil porky tubes of unknown origin. We had a dream that one day these salty, fatty beasties could become a beacon of happy, healthy family food. We set ourselves a big challenge: to invent super-tasty, healthy sausages that we’d be proud and happy to serve to our own family.

Guess what? We did it!

Our Good Little Sausages and Great Big Sausages are reduced-fat and they don’t have any nasty artificial colours or stabilisers. Yep. We’re pretty proud of them and we hope other sausage makers will copy us.

Here’s how we make ‘em:

• Our happy pigs are born outside (but we make sure they have special shelters in case they get cold).
• They’re housed in spacious barns with deep straw for super-comfort. They’re treated really well and allowed to root and forage freely (just how they like it).
• Because our pigs are treated so well their pork is lean and perfect for our little sausages.
• Matt, our Head of Sausages creates a mix using the very best bits of pork, then some Free Range egg white, gluten-free breadcrumbs and our yummy spice mix.
• The lovely mix is piped into natural casings and shipped off to your local supermarket, all fresh and all.

Good for you, good for others.

So we succeeded in making a sausage that’s good for you and yours, but what about people who have no sausages? Our friend Pete had an idea and Christian Aid made it work.
